Consultation: The procedure begins with doctor examination as all transplantation operations. Two main things are considered in consultation. First, the desired design of recipient area and secondly the number of grafts that can be gained from the donor area.

Procedure Day: Like the Glojas SMART™ FUE procedure, harvesting, extractions and implanting of the grafted hair to face is applied to the procedure of facial hair transplant. Most importantly in achieving the best and natural result, the beard hair growing directions are taken into consideration during the procedure.

Postoperative Care & Facial Hair Wash: This is the washing process that is to be carried out for 14 days. Both the donor and the transplanted area will be sensitive during this period, so it important to carry out the washing process with extra care as instructed.

Topic 2: Recovery of SMART™ FUE Beard Transplant. 

Relatively, the SMART™ FUE procedure is a minimal invasive procedure that has a fast recovery rate with minimal pain from the donor and recipient area. 

The donor site will start to grow after a few days. A for the recipient site, there will be formation of scabs which will be removed within the first week’s facial/beard hair wash protocol. 

However, good hygiene and avoiding physical activities like going to the gym should help to fasten the recovery and to avoid infections on scalp.

1. What really is beard hair transplant? 

This is simply defined as the removal of hair follicles from the back of your head and transplanted to whatever area you want to grow a beard. 

2. Can anyone undergo the procedure?

3. Do I experience any pain?

Apart from a mild discomfort, this procedure is generally painless. It is performed under Local Anaesthesia. 

4. Do I risk getting scars after the process?

5. Does the procedure take long to be performed?

Patients are allowed to trim their beard after 2 weeks of recovery period. As for shaving is after a month from the procedure date. 

7. What should I expect after the beard hair transplant?

The first sign of recovery are crusts of blood (scabs) around the affected area. This is a sign of healing. This can go on for a week before graduating to the effect of stubble. Next you should expect almost 50%-70% of the transplanted hair to fall off. Do not be alarmed; your beard will grow back in full (usually after 3 months-gradually).

8. Are the results permanent?

Absolutely yes. You will continue to have a non-thinning beard for many years to come. Your beard will be resistant to balding.

9. How long should I expect a full-grown beard?

After three months, you can expect some significant beard on your face. If you are the type that would want a longer beard, you will have it between 4 and 12 months.
