The Goals

 

 

 

 

To reduce the size of the areola to be more symmetrical and aesthetically pleasing to the patient.

 

To reduce the height and circumference of the nipples with excessive protrusion.

 

 

 

 

 

The Procedure

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Done under local anaesthesia
     
  • Markings will be made to ensure patients desired size
     
  • The excess tissue will be undermined and removed
     
  • Wound will be closed, typically with a dissolvable circular stitch.

 

  • Done under local anaesthesia
  • Design the nipple for reduction.
  • Adjust the ideal nipple height in proportion to the radius of the nipple viewed from the sides.
  • Incise the areola to 1/3 or 1/4 size in a triangular shape.
  • Suture the remaining tissues to form the normal shape of the nipple.

 

 

 

The Recovery

 

 

  • Bruising and swelling that would last for day or couple of weeks
  • No exercise or strenuous activities up to 2 weeks to ensure full recovery
